Not only small companies even Big Tech like Google, Amazon, Apple etc are tracking ID card/badges swiping of individual whether they are in office for atleast 3 days in a week with 5+ hours duration in a day or not? - Is 60% attendance reached by individual in month or not? - Adding this office attendance percentage into performance reviews - Giving each employee twice/thrice amount of workload - Increased PIP quotas and silently forcefully firing employees What is happening these days? How many years it's going to be like this? #engineering #software #swe #maang #google #apple #amazon #pip
Forget about Badge swiping tracking, amzn manager gets more detailed view of activity on your laptop…/caffeinate won’t fly :)
Proof?
Scoop out of lunch talk…I wasn’t surprised when I heard this
Employees in some departments receive promotions for improved performance tracking.
What is happening is companies being paranoid about moonlighting waste of spaces. This weeds out a lot of non serious people. It's a nice move. They also monitor your laptop data, always have. They use these data only when they look for ways to kick you out. If you perform well they'll always find ways to keep you
I have nothing against moonlighting employees as long as they can meet their assigned duties
Seniors on my team are the most unresponsive people ever over slack, and never ever take time to help new hires glad we have to go to office now where it’s much easier to get at least a response from them -not at GM
Doesn’t CISCO have some camera tracking stuff in their office? God that is scary 😦
Companies over hired during pandemic and are now panicking and trying to force people out. It'll stabilize eventually.
Well, this was the norm when I started my career 20 years back in Asia. You swipe 15 mins late, your half day pay is cut. Covid spoiled everyone
In China you mean ?
If I know I'm gonna be 15 mins late, why bother coming in until after lunch?
THEYRE PUTTING CHIPS IN YOUR BADGES! BILL GATES IS TRACKING YOU! BURN YOUR BADGES!!!
Netflix tracks badging into the office... for out-of-state fully remote employees. They do it so if you work from CA for the day, they automatically pay your CA income tax for you, so you don't have to worry about it. This is for the 10-15 days a year remote employees come in for on-sites and such.
can you VPN to CA to get that CA pay?
Why would you willingly pay CA taxes?
Only your company
Not entirely true
@Google, shut the fuck up this is you: Google makes office attendance part of performance reviews https://arstechnica.com/google/2023/06/google-makes-office-attendance-part-of-performance-reviews/
