I was laid off from meta and I am 6 months pregnant right now. I am really confused whether to take some time now and just focus on pregnancy, baby and try for new job in next year when baby is 4-5 months old or to keep looking now to ideally secure job before delivering baby. Will one year gap in my resume hurt my career? What do you all suggest? If it matters, not on visa.
Depends on your partner and support. You can try interviews without Taking stress if you don't have much chores to do. Don't worry about the gap, nobody will hold it against you. No visa issue is great. All the best!
Just keep giving casual interviews as right now you don't have much to do anyway. It's gets busy after baby so maybe line up an offer before that and at the very end of offer stage let them know you will be taking some maternity before starting.
I like this option. Do casual and honest but not a big deal if it doesn’t work out
Just take this time for yourself and your baby. You won’t get it back, trust me.
Baby won't be there until 4 more months.
I will say that 4-5 months old is a really hard time to start a new job and I would wait just a little bit longer if you can, like 6-7 mo.
12 months if you can!
Don't do this. Be employed and take maternity but don't delay starting a new job!
Childbirth’s the most important thing, don’t ruin it with job stress if you can afford it. Only reason would be health insurance.
Focus on you and your baby!
If you have health insurance covered, and financially in a comfortable place, honestly this break is so much better than shitty maternity leave in this country. Might as well allow your body to relax and recover. Honestly most managers worth working for will understand the break for childbirth reasons. If not, they’re not worth working for!
Industry has different opening for women who want to return to work(was in break). So don't worry about the gap. Focus on ur health and on ur baby. A year gap won't matter I have seen females joining the firm with 1-4 yrs of break.
The market is horrible now. I would not introduce more stress unless not having a job is more stressful to you than interviewing and getting rejections
