Hi, I was told to pass the final interview round for a SWE-SRE L4 position in Dublin in mid Nov 2022. But the agent also informed me that Headcount was very limited and she was even not sure if anything would happen before Q2 2023. I've tried to approach around other Googlers, and asked my recruiter agent to forward my profile to GoogleZurich as well due to a similar opened job there. Still nothing changed. Do you have any insight information about this slowing progress? Is it common that passing candidates do not get hired nowadays? #tech #google # headcount #teamallocation #dublin #zurich
I saw stats on open roles showed that between Aug ‘22 and Jan ‘23 the amount of open roles was down 80% in the US 87% in Ireland 77% in Switzerland. New times baby!
I think everything right now is either getting filled by internal transfers or people who have been in queue for a bit longer. Wait for February for new openings. SREs are one of rare positions that are in demand now, you should have no problem matching soon. Normal SWEs have to worry more.
Interesting!! Thanks for the information.
I was told the same thing in December. But last week my recruiter suddenly reached out to set up a team match call bec a hiring manager got new headcounts.

For all locations?
I guess google employees could be reluctant to interview more people in next months. The layoff is partly because overhire in last 2 years. They wanna do best to avoid taking new people and having 2nd round layoffs, which makes sense
