Waitlist@Amazon New grad USA

I interviewed with amazon in Jan first week, and it turns out I am waitlisted. Seeing at reddit/leetcode forums it turns out amazon has waitlisted all folks who interviewed for New grad role on or after Dec 9 (visa sponsorship required). So there are about 400-500 students who are waitlisted for new grad position. However one of my friend has interview this week. Does amazon really need this many students as backup? I also got in touch with one manager who was happy to take me in his team. However when he contacted the university recruiting team they told him he cannot pick anyone from the New grad pipeline. This is really frustrating. If there are no more positions why are they still interviewing? And if there positions available for new grad why are they not extending offer to people who are waiting in waitlist from December last week? #amazon

People renege so that’s why they have waitlist

But don't you think 500 is bit too much?

Amazon Thoor Feb 11, 2020

It depends on how many open roles they hope to fill and the historical accept rate. I wont be surprised if the latter is high.

How many rounds of virtual interviews did you have?

Cisco LCSoul OP Feb 11, 2020

3. But I don't think number of rounds matter

Epsilon Hari28 Feb 11, 2020

Yes. But I was just wondering if everyone is getting 3 rounds from January
