Seeing chatter on The Layoff. Are Eng/Tech orgs getting affected too? https://www.thelayoff.com/wal-mart-stores #layoff #walmart
Not for now it seems. But who knows about the future
This isn't Bell System, where they have complete control over the phone industry. Facebook is optional. We can shop other places rather than Amazon. If you want to search online you can use other options, like Bing. You can buy other phones outside of an iPhone. Android users can sideload other apps and stores.
There is a reason Amazon can offer best price. It enjoys monopolistic privileges.
A lot of Americans live in rural neighborhoods and Walmart and Target are more convenient and also low prices.
They are doing good during this pandemic, so layoff is probably to get rid of redundant positions or restructuring and as part of aggressive strategy guess.
True. Whatever Walmart maybe, but they know how to flip and restart; play offense.
It’s opportune time to beef your bottom line and become more efficient while not freaking out the public and impacting shareholder value. In fact you’ll likely see more upside in share value with this now than ever
I feel sorry for the people laid off while living in bentonville. Nothing there but walmart.
Actually there's a huge supplier community if you're in merch or supply chain. Not sure the tech opportunities but if you're not in Walmart you're usually with a supplier
Truth. Lots of former Walmart employees end up with suppliers and stay in town
Walmart still pays employees poverty rates and no one bats an eye
Well, depends what side of the fence you're on. Labs is paid relatively well. Floor staff? Yeah not so much
Lol no, pay is very much in comparison to Faang like he said depending on which side of the fence you are in
strange, why walmart lay people off, online delivery must have sky rocketed
They're not laying off from eCommerce so far. Looks like lots of corporate
Actually they’re laying off majority of ecom. Most roles in the SB office have been laid off or will be today.
Why? I thought they are doing well. Someone explain why this is happening
Billy bob needs to make papa-billy Walton happy. Also by laying them off now, since they won’t be productive, they won’t get as much bonus.
Clean house during the one golden time where layoffs = increased stock prices

What's 84?
Time to break up Amazon
What Amazon has to do with that? When Intel started hitting rock bottom, were you wishing about Apple got to be broken up? 😃
Break them all up, the hearing yesterday proved they’re all monopolies by different names
