Hello. I need help with evaluating a Staff Product Manager offer at Walmart. I have 4+ years of experience in Product Management and 7+ years of experience in total. Base: $170K Annual bonus: $36K Stocks/yr: $80K TC: $286K Location: Sunnyvale I have a competing offer with a Seattle based company with TC of $262K. 1. Does it make sense to move to Sunnyvale when the TC delta is only $24K? 2. Setting the stocks aside, the difference between the cash component of the offers is $31K (Walmart cash component is higher). But given the COL difference between Sunnyvale and Seattle, will the $31K cover the difference? 3. In light of the pending recession, would it be prudent to accept the Walmart offer as I've heard its more resilient to recessions compared to other companies? Thank you for your help. #walmart #h1b #layoff #layoffs
Walmart is recession proof right?
No, no one is recession proof and you can always be PIPed.
As recession proof as they come!
Nope. Seattle offer is better
Agree about Seattle. COL is significantly lower than the Bay Area.
Thank you.
A lot has changed since the last recession. I wouldn't consider Walmart as recession proof this time around
@walmart - i need a referral for walmart - can i dm? thank you
That TC is garbage.
What are you smoking?
For their YOE, that TC is dog shit.
That’s a Sr. Pm offer. Not staff
Their staff requires 4 years of experience.
It’s the floor offer for staff
What is your background? Curious on whether you got this position through a referral or just cold applications.
Washington has no state income tax. So you need to factor that into the equation. The package seems right for someone with 4 yrs of experience.
That base is too low for a Staff PM. They definitely low balling you. What does Levels.FYI say? I’m seeing offers with base of 180-220k for Sr PMs. Staff definitely will be in a higher range, esp for Walmart.
Walmart Sr PM band caps at $200 so you’re def not seeing 220 lol
At least better than 176, so that’s good!
