I am a new hire and will be joining from East Coast. Can anyone share their experiences at Sunnyvale office and what to expect? Any neighborhood or rental agency recommendations for housing 1B1B will also help. TC 180K
Sunnyvale is a safer place to live but with 180k comp you need to do some searching to find an affordable rental.
Office is cramped. Expect to not be able to find a spot if you come after 10 am on Monday and Thursdays. Cafeteria also has long lines min Mondays and Thursdays after 1215. Little to No subsidy for food. No snacks. You do get a soda machine and popcorn that facilities will use to pop twice a week. Ev charging if you care is also no longer free after first week of November. Office WiFi is also sporadic. In general it’s nothing to write home about but I’ve seen worse. Just remember - it’s everyday low prices that extends to how we treat employees as well. Save more. Live better.
Oh wow. Thanks for sharing the details. Can I ask for transfer to San Bruno?
Depends. You might be able to work out of San Bruno maybe once a week. It’s a nicer office (desks are more spread out) with a view of the bay on the higher floors. But office charging issues still apply.
