What tools would the front end of the site use? I already know TypeScript, JS, and React + Redux. What else is really required? What kind of auth should you use? I know I’ll need to integrate payment processors as well. For backend I was going to use either a NestJS it Springboot api + MySQL? How can an early career swe learn enough to be able to create a whole service similar to OF or Netflix? #engineering #software #swe
OnlyFans and Netflix is not a technical problem. It’s a marketing problem.
Just go do it. Don’t obsess about the tools upfront. You’ll spend too much time thinking about how to build something “the right way” and get overwhelmed and stop. Make stories and tickets on a Jira or Trello board to breakdown the project into broad tasks and when you run into a new problem address it as you go. At some point you’ll probably realize you’re accruing a lot of technical debt or problems from an early design decision. That’s completely fine and part of software engineering. You’ll learn from it, tackle the problem, and move on. The best way to gain experience is to dive in.
Isn't OnlyFans + Netflix = just P0rnHub with extra steps?
P hub got content nuke by woke crowd and regulator the during 2020. A lot of stuff got remove
Woah wtf fr? When was this?
Brilliant idea. This is how Netflix might end up beating recession, by building an onlyfans feature
Lmao, I’m actually not entirely sure what the business idea is yet. I’m just curious on the architecture of subscriber based businesses.
Is this going to have porn? If no, use AWS or GCP services on the backend to scale. Maybe find a cofounder if you have such basic engineering questions.
You’re right but I’m sure building something like this will help me transcend from being a noob
Can’t have porn on AWS / GCP?!

There’s a million tutorials about how to create a Netflix copycat, basically you can create a similar experience but it’s not gonna be anywhere near their availability, reliability, etc… you’ll have to simplify everything so it can be done by one person
Would it be feasible to start out with a simple version one engineer can build and slowly transition into a scalable version as you gain more users? Where can I find info on this?
No, you’d need to rebuild from scratch when system architecture changes
