Anyone have insight on what it is like to work for Wayfair? Currently at 70k base and TC of 92k I'm up for promo in Q4 and if granted I'd probably be at 77k base and 110k TC Wayfair said 90k base with 125k TC was potentially doable. Money sounds cool but right now I work from home and make my own hours whereas Wayfair would like me in an office and on a schedule. Wanted some thoughts from others.
Take the promotion if you are certain that in q4 it will happen.
Will they make you move to Boston? I was in discussions for a recruiting manager role with team of 5+ but dropped out when they said they couldn’t even match what I’m making as an IC (I live in NYC but still...) recruiter. I’d stay at Amazon...
I would kill to work 100% remote and not be tied to my desk. Stay at Amazon.
Wayfair is the worst company to work for. Coming from a employee. Run as far as you could!!!!!!!!!!!
Up for promo does not mean promo. Oh how many times I’ve seen the opposite. FYI you’ll never get 150K with 2.5 years as an IC recruiter, especially at Wayfair. They are notorious for low pay, high WLB. You should push for remote and take the 90K then move to a cheaper COL market.
I'm pretty remote now. A cheaper COL would probably be on a swamp in LA or out somewhere in WV. I like TX too much but I'm in a very good spot. You're right about the promo though. My manager said they were working on the draft in August/September and we'd review but never heard anything else and 1:1 are rare. I'll probably switch teams and seek promo elsewhere.
Wayfair has remote recruiters. That's what I would push for. In terms of hiring performance numbers, Wayfair is in tier 3 or below, distinctly below FAANGs with offers. You'll end up having to try hard to recruit from companies below Wayfair's tier but not at or above Wayfair. Or try to uplevel folks 2 levels.
So in that case I should be up leveling myself thus undersold my comp. Dang I knew I should've asked for 150k.
