Wayfair offer: Senior Level 170 CAD base No sign on 3K USD RSUs 3 days RTO(strict) No yearly bonus Intuit offer: Staff level 180 CAD base 20k CAD sign on 133,600 USD RSUs 2 days RTO (not enforced) 20% yearly bonus HCOL Canada in a product role EDIT: Signed with Intuit 🎉🎉
Intuit wins in every aspect, unless you have insider information about terrible work culture of team.
The only info I have about teams is that Intuit has better talent over Wayfair. I’d rather work with talented folks than be the talented one amongst mids
Would 💯 recommend intuit. Better product culture
How is this even a comparison? Especially since one had layoffs and the other didn’t.
That doesn’t dictate who will have future layoffs. I’ve been told Wayfair had cut a lot of costs to avoid future reduction and I don’t know enough about Intuit to know if they won’t have one at all.
Intuit is one of the most stable companies out there
Intuit has better business with all its products . Wayfair is just a furniture store that buys in bulk and sells for profit.
Is my math bad or is intuit’s offer not significantly higher? How can this be a comparison lol. Congrats fellow Canadian
Hahah it’s not just about the math. I want to make sure I’m not missing any other factors outside of the $. But thank you! 🇨🇦
Yeah but wayfair is wayfair. I don’t like retail in general, too dependent on the economy. Definitely take the intuit offer, they have strong products and good talent. Also cost of living in Canada is brutal, so you are very lucky.
What is your current TC at Shopify? Work location? YoE?
190k cad TC Toronto 8 YOE I need to get out and am willing to take a pay cut.
What was your reason to come out of Shop ? I know they had layoffs this year, anything besides that ?
For an L4 PM in Toronto, that Wayfair offer is very light. Definitely room for negotiation.
OP, would you mind if I DMd you about the interview process? I’m about to do my case portion !
There’s no comparison between these offer. Intuit >>> PS: Intuit gives yearly refreshers too. So your TC will increase every year at least by 30-40k at your level And base salary increases every year unlike shopify. Assuming, 100k usd refresh every year without considering base increase (just to do calculations easy) Year 2 TC: ~ 290k Year 3 TC: ~ 330k Year 4 TC: ~ 360k Year 5 tc : ~ 400k
This calculation is wrong. You may get 100k over 4 years. So your TC will be 215K
calculations might be on the fact that we get refresher stock units every year
Calculate salary adjusted for the probability of layoffs. Wayfair has laid off 40% of staff within 12 months, and is still in the market hiring new folks - if this doesn't say something then I don't know what would.
What exactly does this say? Maybe I’m missing something. (Genuinely not getting it)
That they layoff people as soon as its time to promote you, and hire new blood.
Intuits fairly chill. Also looks like you’ll get paid a lot more.
I heard Intuit fired 7% of DNME bucket without PIP. Is it true ?
Yes
