I always found myself in a situation where I am doing all the hard and dirty work with low visibility. On the other hand, my co-worker claiming all the credits. My co-worker tends to ask me to share my current/previous work with him as an example, and I found that he has been presenting it as his own with minimal editing. Is this common? What should I do to stop people from taking advantage of me? I tried to say no a few times when he asked for my work. Then he asked me WHY? And I don't know how to answer that.
Speak up
Do not blurt out all that you have achieved to your Co worker .. summarize your achievement and share with your people manager and document achievements for pbc.
Have a running log of what you did and what valuable output you created. Make sure you share it with the credit taking coworker.
Here’s how you answer: No.
What is your work product and why do you present it separately to whom?
Stop doing shit you don't need to do and if something is dumb push back.
Sounds like you can leverage this to become the mentor and guide them to the right way to do things. Other than that create clear boundaries and say no. Saying No is usually the hardest part but after that people will start to respect your boundaries
Answer the why this way: Because you plagiarized my previous work and take all the credit!
