I found that if we say anything not good, they can say we are "unprofessional" and fire us. If I say good things, bright, and flower, rainbow, sunshine things, they welcome it with a smile. So how are they different from North Korea or Mainland China in terms of "You can only say we are good". #tech #corporations #corp
You said if you say bad thing about your friend, they stop being your friend too, so what's the difference. they don't fire you, do they? Or if they are the home association board, they can't kick you out of your house, do they? Why don't you use the "showing dirty laundry" analogy too, because anybody can make a woman pregnant, ignore her, and she says something now know to other people, you can say, "She is not good because nobody shows dirty laundry in public, and it is true, your dirty pants and shirt, you really do not show it in the public but we are not talking about your dirty clothes because your dirty clothes next to the washing machine do not affect other people."
Agreed. I’ve learned it is no use to be anything less than positive about the work environment or culture. I also let my boss know I love my job so they’ll keep investing in me long term. It’s just not worth it and doesn’t change anything.
What's a company? A group of like minded people on a mission. Once you start badmouthing your own company, it's only logical that other people won't want you on the team, weighing them down. I mean duh, isn't this obvious to you?
while the company promotes "open communication", honesty, integrity, ethics in the company, then, no, it is not obvious to me they don't allow honest opinion. It is obvious to me only if I know they are obviously lying about the "open communication" and honesty and everybody knows they are lying
Open communication, sure, but keep in mind you serve at their collective pleasure.
Yea well there's a difference between giving constructive and actionable feedback vs just talking smack. The former is welcome at some places.
"constructive"... I found that when the tech lead said something about me, it is "constructive criticism", but when I said something about him, it is "I am not a team player."
You joined that company. You should have at least some good things to say about the company
yeah, so what if I have half good and half bad to say. No, it is if you say 3 things good and 1 thing bad and you are shot down
We're all corporate slaves, brother/sister. Let that sink in. We have to always obey our master (manager and CEO). Take their whips in form of bad ratings and PIP.
If you feel this way about a company you're at, then it's a sign that you do not align with the company's culture and that perhaps you belong at a different company. This may not be a complete surprise to you, but I was given a crash course in this when I joined Amazon.
no, even if you agree with 10 things about the company, but don't like how the manager treated you during Covid-19? Such as he not understanding you get locked down for 2 months or 5 months and it can affect you, but instead see how you being locked down can also mean working 13 to 15 hours a day because you have nothing else to do anyway? You voice it and it is like you are considered to be evil. You voice it to HR and they pretend to be blind and deaf and at this point, the manager is going to nitpick everything you do and want you gone anyway. How spectacular human intelligence is. Is it a gangster setting we work in?
