Yes, absolutely.

But we won’t, the lobbying force is too strong. Did you know Google spends more on lobbying than Comcast, AT&T and Boeing?

Microsoft fjdjdj Apr 3, 2018

Honestly, we should have even stronger protections than GDPR. I'm in charge of my products GDPR work and it doesn't go far enough in my opinion

Your company owns LinkedIn. GDPR would severely stymie that revenue stream.

Microsoft fjdjdj Apr 3, 2018

I don't really care what stymies my company's revenue ;) I care more about doing what's right for the American and EU citizens

Yeah. But see, the Democrats are in bed with the tech companies so it’s unlikely.

GDPR applies to EU citizens living in the US. Don’t companies have to provide the same capabilities for the US because they won’t know citizenship?

Microsoft AmIEwok Apr 3, 2018

Yes, we’re not working on a special path for EU citizens vs. the rest of the world. GDPR is forcing us to provide these capabilities to everyone.

Depends how similar you are thinking. We don't have, in many sectors, clear and unambiguous opt-in consent, nor do we have the ability for users to exercise their data usage rights (delete, edit, freeze, export). That kind of law would be great! US does, however, have several sector specific privacy laws that cover certain situations. I like the EU's centralized model better, so like you, I am in favor of that. I'm a CIPM, CIPP/US and CIPP/EU so I get to deal with these issues quite often. Good poll!
