Dumb question but if you go to a foreign country like vietnam and use a website like expedia or airbnb it is still going to be in english right if you didnt change your browser settings from the usa? I dont know if sites read your locale from a cookie or whatever server is closest to you.
In some countries they change the language by default and in others you need to change it by yourself. After that it is stored in cookies
Ok thanks good to know I wasnt asking a dumb question lol
If a site you've visited before offers multiple languages, then the last language you've used will probably be saved in a cookie, so your experience will not change. If you access such a site for the first time while abroad, it will probably default to the local language.
I was in Vietnam a week ago. I only used Firefox on mobile and I found that as long as I had English in the settings that's generally what I got in international sites like Airbnb etc.
Ok thanks did you use chrome on your laptop too?
I didn't bring a laptop, but it should be the same principle as it just depends on what headers the browser passes.
As someone that's traveled to many countries I can say that the sites you have previously visited will be in the same language you always use them. Additionally, most websites that end in .com are designated US so you have to physically type in that countries domain (such as .co.jp or .uk or .in) to get to that languages site
Thanks ive seen the jp extension too

Depends. Often, the website will be in the language of the country (if it’s localized into it) or at least have the currency of that country.
Yeah. I know Amazon.com somehow figured out where you are and redirects to Amazon.co.uk in England
It’s not somehow, your country is figured out through your ip address
