A friend had the offer from Nordstrom to join after Graduation. A month or so back, they asked him for a call. The recruiter he was talking with and a Senior Recruiter came on the call and told him that Nordstrom is withdrawing the offer. They didn't send any email or letter by post informing him about their offer withdrawal. So he asked them to send one and then sent three reminders. After that, they again established a call and said giving any formal or informal email or letter was impossible. Not sure why they are behaving like this! Do you have any thoughts?
Simple, they would still go to office on the planned day and join as though nothing happened. In this world of scamming, you cannot believe anything, unless it's official. You didn't get an official withdrawal, so your offer is still valid (at least assume). But in reality, plan for other jobs.
rescinding offer is a tradition for Nordstrom...
There were layoffs in Nordstrom a month or so back -- maybe there's a hiring freeze and left / right hands just weren't talking.
I am not surprised as we had layoffs in technology across level a month ago. Any backfill needs a VP level approval. We're also RTO this June, technology folks are required in office at least 3 days/weeks.
