Interview so much that you get robust to such silly things
I can agree with this. Practice, practice, practice. It's not a natural skill but it can be learned, though do not expect the journey to be easy.
I recently had a few interviews for practice. Been several years. After my first one, I felt terrible, even though I had practiced at home for a while, because I totally fucked up the system design question. I felt like shit while it was happening and felt worse after. Its not that I didnt know how, but in 30 mins, designing every part of a system is tricky because there's a lot to remember at once. I went home and studied. At my second, I did better but fucked up something else. Went home and studied. Point being, interview more and find your weaknesses. Try not to feel bad, although, that's hard advice to follow.
Leave, believe me, that is the best way to avoid wasting more time
Whoever did that you, isn't worth fretting about. There are all kind of people, unfortunately in this case you found the 'other' kind. Might seem bit preachy, but this is one of the best things that can happen to you, if you intend to succeed in this direction. Or if you want to reconsider your career path. There are plenty of opportunities in both directions, you can make an informed choice and prepare.
Also, if you just want to blow off some coding steam- get on the Leetcode contest this evening 6:30 pst.
Kiddo .. roll your eyes and move on. Another day, another interview.
If this happened in Amazon then you should give your feedback to the tech recruiters. Belittling candidates is strictly prohibited per Amazon’s interviewing policy. Please include the name of the person as well.
I had this happen twice. After the first time I felt so bad that I worked at getting better at leetiness. The 2nd time was years later. I felt decently prepared and confident so I ended the interview and let HR know how their company was being represented.
If your experience wasn't good because of the recruiters, give feedback in a polite way. If your experience wasn't good because of how hard the questions were, just try to find the answers online and learn from your mistakes. In any case, don't beat yourself up over it, interviews can always trigger certain things that make you not perform as your regular self, just continue until you get comfortable with the situation.
I appreciate the good advice. Thank you
