Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Got an offer for Staff engineer, but interviewed for principal engineer position. In bay area. Base: 140k Bonus: upto 12% per year RSU: 26k/(4 years) Sign on: 15k TC~ 163k, excluding sign-on Current TC @ Intel, G6 (non bay area): 130k (base plus bonus plus stocks), around 30k unvested RSU YOE: 6 Dont have external competing offers right now. This looks like a lowball. How to negotiate? Should I negotiate for principal (they said not enough experience for principal, but got the offer within a day of interview) Update: Revised offer was bumped to 145k base (+5K) and 25k sign on (+10K) and same RSU as before and it was the best they could do. I ended up rejecting the offer. Will keep interviewing. Thanks to everyone for all your inputs! Really appreciate it! #hardware #semiconductor #offer #westerndigital #intel #micron
What area? Looks decent for the YOE in my opinion.
Systems design, Nand. I was thinking along the lines of: Base: 160k Sign on: 45k RSU: 50k The offer as it is now makes me question if it's worth moving from my current position. The RSU grant is lower than my unvested stocks. I am concerned that I most likely will end up saving less with the increased cost in Bay area.
You should at least negotiate on the stocks part. If you accept the offer as is, you’re definitely on the losing end.
Man WD pay is bad.. 😅
Yeah, lower than I thought. Let's see how it goes. DM for microsoft referral ? :)
WDC pay sucks. Which department is this for?
NAND, systems design
For staff level , the offer you listed is about right.
Bay area os expensive, your current TC at intel is better outside bayarea!
Staff at wdc means senior in most company
Update: Revised offer was bumped to 145k base (+5K) and 25k sign on (+10K) and same RSU as before and it was the best they could do. I ended up rejecting the offer. Will keep interviewing. Thanks to everyone for all your inputs! Really appreciate it!
Look decent for Staff eng at WD. Saw ur update for rejecting. Imo this pay rate is not sustainable in Bay Area if you haven’t bought a house yet.
I’d agree staff with 6yoe at 145k base is decent. RSU is low compared with other companies but look at the profit and revenue difference. I don think any pay rate now is sustainable for Bay Area housing now lol. Even with 250k+ TC you are barely affording a 1.4M house.
Any help ?
It's a bump to go from Grade 6 at Intel to Staff at WD. Take the offer
