Hello All, I have had roughly 10 years of experience in the business field with various roles in Investment Banking, Corporate Development/Strategy, and Brand Management. As someone who minored in Computer Science, I have recently decided to pursue this college passion and switch into software engineering. I have not completed a bootcamp but instead have gone the self-taught route. I have launched a side-project that has exposed me to a number of technologies: React.js, Javascript, Java, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Git and Github, N-Tier Architecture, Maven, AWS RDS, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, HTML, CSS, Front-End Development, Material UI, Netlify, Twilio API. I am open to big or mid-size companies where I can get experience and continue to learn from my team. Would anyone be able to provide a referral for junior engineering / entry-level roles? The challenge that I am facing now is that I need experience to get a job and I need a job to get experience. Looking for roles where I can be given a shot to learn and get the experience to grow my career. Here are some companies I am interested in: #Slack #Salesforce #Google #Apple #Netflix #Roku #Convoy #Expedia #Priceline #Teladoc #Affirm #Adobe #Sezzle #BestBuyeCommerce #Uber #Lyft #Square #Clover #Intuit #Zoom #Airbnb #Intel #Paypal #Microsoft #Oracle #Cisco #Shopify #Twitter #Stripe #Snapchat #Snowflake #Twilio #Coinbase #Workday #Cloudflare #Crowdstrike #Docusign #ServiceNow #WalmarteCommerce #Dropbox #Peloton #SeaLimited #LinkedIn #Grubhub #Doordash #Target #Etsy #Pinterest #Squarespace #Facebook #Amazon #Upstart #Fiverr #Instacart #Nerdwallet #Github #Better #TripAdvisor #Tumblr #Zola #RocketMortgage #Zillow #Ripple #robinhood #vmware #spotify #box #referral #juniorengineer #softwareengineer #opentowork

You should be a PM! Tech loves HSW PMs Dm for workday
With your creds, taking an entry level developer role doesn’t seem yo make sense. It could be possible you will be capped at senior level even after a long time.

I'm curious about this. Given that SWE with few YOE are making more than MBAs, we might see some MBAs with tech background go back to SWE. What is yout current TC? Also, have you thought about Product Management - Technical instead?
Happy to share -- I left my job to pursue this full time but I was earning about $150K per year total comp but I was on the lower side of my MBA classmates. Most classmates who went to tech, consulting, investment management, banking, etc. were making $200K+ and potentially even $300K+. My decision wasn't financially driven but rather working in a field that was more analytical, logical, and personally enriching. I love solving problems and building things. If jumping back into SWE doesn't work out, I will likely look at PM and PMT roles as well.
Cool, yes PM/PMT should be great fit for you. And still you will be able to work on your side projects on weekends.
