EE CS Minor vs CS which one is the superior major to study at a target university?
Minors don’t mean shit, so you are basically asking EE vs CS, which should be pretty easy to figure out based on what you want to do.
Hmm why do minors not mean anything? I still would put in on my resume so itd have Computer Science keyword right?
You can also just type computer science on your resume and accomplish the same thing. Degrees barely mean anything tbh, you just need to check the box. Getting EE or CS will check your box, getting the minor is just extra work that adds no value.
Both are probably equal for gen SWE as long as you take DS and Algo. I majored in CS but sortve wish I majored in ECE with minor in CS so I’d have more hardware sympathy
If you’re really interested in distributed systems though maybe CS with a few architecture classes is better though, since there’s a lot of cool stuff to learn at the graduate level once you’re a junior/senior
EE can do CS. But CS can't do EE.
+1 I came across better programmers with EE over CS. OP, it doesn’t matter what’s your major is if you are good at whatever you do.
Whichever one allows you to study LC the most Therefore just do the CS major
If you already know you're going into software engineering, then EE might be a waste. EE degrees usually require a lot more courses that are likely not going to be pertinent to your career. If you choose CS, you should have more wiggle room to take more elective and graduate courses like ML, parallel processing, etc
What do you want to be? What are you interested in? Different universities will have different “superior” programs
Is uiuc cs or ee program better?
CS is better in uiuc
What’s your definition of superior?
Versatile and makes a lot of money
EE + CS will generally give you a wide breadth that’ll allow you to navigate through hardware/software
