I see average salary for senior engineer in Atlanta is around $100k. I am earning $160k in BayArea, I know we can’t compare it due to cost of living and other Factors. How much is equivalent salary for $160k BayArea in Atlanta?
Some things not considered in “cost of living” are property taxes vs home value. Cali has lower taxes than Dallas, but higher real estate prices = screwed Dallas has lower home values, but higher property taxes = still screwed Atlanta has Dallas prices with Cali tax rates. Also if you have / are planning on having kids, the daycare is way cheaper. You might not even need it if you are close to family or are planning on working off of a single income. Go ahead and BUY into a NICE, CLOSE suburb of Atlanta. Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta. Kennesaw is also really nice, consider what side of Atlanta you’ll be working on, though, that could be a little far. Buckhead is technically Atlanta (it tried to incorporate itself, never went through) It’s not considered a suburb per se but its North Atlanta proper. Nice townhouses right on the main drag and lovely historic homes with large yards a block or two off that. You’ll shit yourself.
Uh Dallas even with higher property taxes is no where close to the bay area. Even a 650 sq ft condo in the South Bay sells for $600k. Texas also doesn't have state income tax. It's not comparable at all. What you can buy for 250k in Atlanta will cost you $2 million in the bay area.
Why can't they match your Bay area pay? Are they making less profits when operating in Atlanta? If they want talent, they better match
Really? Bay Area, like any other area, only pays what it has to. It just happens to be the most.
Yes. For tech jobs at least. If they want experienced, Bay Area talent elsewhere, better match

+1 buckhead
MailChimp is awesome ...just sayin
T-Mobile is now running a lot of their development in Atlanta and are hiring. Their offices are in Sandy Springs. Edited to add that you should be able to get more than $100k
