What are the best credit cards to get with SSN but no income?

My wife came on H4 visa last year and she got her SSN this year after her EAD was approved. We wanted to the credit history for her asap. But she currently has no job. So, what are the best credit cards that she can get now? We both have a account in Chase bank. Can she apply for Chase credit card or it’s difficult to get for her? Also, what would happen if she applied and her application was rejected? Will that affect anything if she applies again?

Just put her name as an acct holder on your own card. Vast majority of banks will not approve a cc with zero income and zero US assets in her name

If I do that, will her credit history start building up? What does credit history depends on? SSN?

They will, yes. My fiancee's a cardholder of mine, any authorized users have the card affect their credir

Add your wife to any card that you might have on your name. This will help build her credit score and then she can apply one of her own.

Ask her bank for prepaid credit card, they will get some deposit and hold it for a year and give her a credit card. It will count as a real credit in her credit history.

Agree with adding as cardholder. People say that CapitalOne is the best credit card for low or sparse credit.

Go for petal credit card or check out Nova credit if you're an immigrant.

My wife got the BOA cash rewards card. The credit limit was only $500 but good enough. It helps to build up her credit score as well.

Check out secured credit cards. Basically you need to deposit x amount to get credit card for x amount. At some point in future, once they figure you are good with payments they change that to unsecured card and give the deposit back and hopefully increase credit limit. At that point you have credit history which you can use for applying new cards as well If that's not what you are looking for, check Petal card

Thanks. I am fine with depositing money. But what are the chances of getting it when she has no income currently?

Income doesn't matter. I got when I came here as student so I had credit history built by time I'm out. I got card for $700 .... Not much

Get a secured credit card. The Discover one should be a good start.
