PIP culture has infested tech very badly including the wlb greats like Google, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Twitter. This is not sustainable. I am looking for companies with no PIP culture where there are no quotas for PIP, dev plan etc.
? It’s a performance plan. All companies weed those out that don’t work to expectations. A performance plan is actually nice in allowing one a chance to have those conversations to get aligned to exceptions of the role & time to perform to that. Other companies simply fire those who do not perform their role as expected..
It's not about a performance plan, it's about having fixed quotas to give them out.
Fixed Quotas are needed to make workers squeal like pigs. It's an at will employment in the US. So your employer has every right to eliminate you at blink of an eye. Have you ever wondered why white Americans stay away from software engineering? (with origins in the US, not transplants from EU) Have you ever wondered why white Americans don't let east asian and south Asian immigrants dominate medical, law and media? Lmao thinking about worker Rights? USCIS has already implemented so many ways to let Indians and Chinese displace Americans. And if Trump like person ensures immigrants don't displace Americans, then your capitalists are happy to outsource your jobs to India and EU countries.

How much tc for seniors
For seniors I think above 200k. I’m paid peanuts cause I’m entry level 😅😭 edit: def above 200k. Idk exact numbers
Only option is small or non-tech companies in a tech position. Most everything medium-sized/larger tech is cutting jobs and playing hardball to appease investors. I know, not super helpful but it’s probably safe to ignore any Blind/Glassdoor reviews of bigger tech companies that say there’s good WLB and culture🥲
Intuit is doing quotas for do not meets rating this performance review season. Rumor is 7% of the company. Don't know if it will translate to loss of job.
How are Intuit revenues affected ? Aren't they fool proof ?
My understanding is finances are good, share price stable. No logical reason for cutting or limiting payroll. Seems like directive came from the top, nobody knows why
Smaller companies or startups don't do PIP. They just fire you. At least on PIP you have time to start looking for work.
Adobe id the new pip factory
What's id?
Not in creative cloud, and the company doesn't have pip quotas
I'm surprised there's no WARN act implications for raising PIP quotas.
What does PIP have to do with the WARN act?
Putting 6% in the "we're building a paper trail to fire you" perf buckets seems like preparation to lay people off without losing reputation like they would if they explicitly laid those people off. I'm surprised nobody has talked about that and wonder if they can avoid getting caught in any mass layoff legal issues if they frame it as "we're firing these people for poor performance, this isn't a layoff, we promise"
Google still doesn’t have pip quotas (not in the way Amazon has them) and the rate let go per year is one of the lowest in the industry. You may think Google is worse than it was and be right about that but it’s still one of the best places from a WLB perspective.
It will slowly get there, wait and see
Didn't they just triple the quota for the "you're not doing your job" ratings from 2% to 6% with the new annual perf? Needs Improvement and Meets Most expectations? Implying you don't meet all your expectations, that you're not doing what they expected when they chose to hire you? Usually when a product or service doesn't do what you expected for the money, you stop paying for it.
