What are the coolest benefits/perks of Facebook?

I hear a lot of Facebook hate, but it really doesn’t rain on my parade. I’ve always heard Facebook makes you feel wanted as a person with incredible perks. What are the best/coolest? Particularly the ones you don’t find on Glassdoor

You can ask tough questions to CEO every week as long as you word it cautiously

"Did we raise the price on the Russians? Last time they only paid $10k to get Trump elected, perhaps we can charge 10x more this time?"

Wellness reimbursement is quite good there. You can reimburse $750/yr on lot of physical and mental activities cost. Take home Free protein shakes from gym even if you don’t use their gym on campus. That cost alone could be monthly 120 bucks or so. Vending machines to pick up most electronic accessory free of cost

That’s awesome. Protein shakes sound like an awesome end of day carb boost. Pretty exciting

Stock Refreshers and promotions tied to actual performance. People won't bullshit you here - if you do bad work they'll let you know what you're not doing, and if you do good work they'll show it by actually putting the money where the mouth is. At Facebook, I've never regretted the hard work I put into something.

Very excited for this. Amazon target total comp is a buzz kill

SAP ksYR03 Aug 24, 2020

That’s not true. I know quite a stories where ur promo is stuck after IC5. And ur refreshers and hike al depend upon your management on ur rating. Most managers there are just glorified HR. Many quite less technical than you

If I tell you something honest, there is a lot of hate here on blind for Fb. But based on what I know from very good friends and having visited there few times, FB has quite a good benefits for its employees and it does try to provide good care to employees. They again provided another 1k for office setup after having given that in april. The free dry cleaning service on campus, one of the best foods, free bike repair, wellness benefit, full reimbursement to conference around US, CEO does every week Q&A where it’s quite open to ask lot of questions which what I heard would not have been encouraged in other companies, Invite friends, family like all day for free food whole day.

Facebook Hodinkee Aug 24, 2020

Yeah, fb benefits are top notch!

Salesforce felice Aug 24, 2020

I am joining fb next month and just looked at all benefits. What stood out for me (compare to Salesforce which is known for great benefits). 1. Medical insurance is way cheaper than Salesforce, if no dependents - completely free, without compromising on plan coverage (meanings plans are great). 2. Maternity / paternity leave is 4 months (after disability leave 6-8 in case of maternity) and covered at 100%. At Salesforce duration is the same, but pay if only 80%. On top of that you get paid 4K for baby expenses as one time gift. At salesforce it’s $250 instead of 4K. Too late for me to appreciate this though, as I am done with having kids. But maybe some other folks will appreciate. Trust me, 26-28 weeks of maternity leave is great. Just trust me. Especially at 100% pay. 3. Wellness benefit, can expense $700 or something like that a year. We have similar perk as Salesforce, $100 per month, and it’s great by the way. Can be used towards classes, gym membership, etc. 4. Free food. At Salesforce, we don’t have free food. It truly sucks, trust me.

The child benefits were a huge draw for me. I plan on starting a family in 3 years and see it as a huge win

Salesforce felice Aug 24, 2020

It is! I went through the whole process during my time at Salesforce, and met so many jealous parents who could not believe I get that much time off. I have to say, parents of tiny babies are very sleep deprived and useless anyways. Also I’ve read in booklet about benefits that they do reimburse 3k per year for childcare. If this is the case - it’s amazing! We pay almost 1.5k a month for daycare, it’s literally 2 months for free per year. Also booklet had other info on infertility treatment, adoption cost assistance (I did not read much on these topics, but definitely something there as well.

SAP ksYR03 Aug 24, 2020

I forgot to mention - if you are married or have kids or parents to take care of FB has provided additional 10 weeks for just covid leaves. This is in addition to already existing sick leaves and pto. That is quite generous for married folks

Amazon plantbae OP Aug 24, 2020

That’s pretty awesome
