What are you looking for in a concept artist?

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but I'm looking to switch careers and break into the the gaming industry. I'm currently enrolled in classes focusing on game design and concept art for video games and I'm wondering what people hiring in the industry are looking for in potential candidates. Like, what types of skills would you say I should focus on?
