Some team at Starbucks trying hard to ‘create work’ so they don’t get canned. Seems like a BS idea
Also, nobody wants to just sit still now a days. They want to stream music, or some shows, or something else, even while they’re getting coffee. Always want to keep your brain occupied
I’ve heard that the Starbucks app is actually a project that they outsourced to a consulting firm, so doing shit that radiates 0 product sense, now you know why
It’s about the lifestyle brand Starbucks has created. They don’t sell coffee.
Spotify finds a venue for physical advertisement across the Starbucks locations all over the world and has a world known brand as a partner. Customer gets exclusivity as it allows you to select in-store music, pretty cool. You also earn stars as currency, another benefit. "Throughout its history, Starbucks has worked closely with the music industry, offering a variety of artists a platform for their work." Seems like Starbucks also cares about in store experience, not a shocker here.
If you needed Spotify you could, you know, open the Spotify app...

Update: Trans Coworker Stealing Breast Milk
> I'm an BE. But thinking as a PM, not sure what problem it solves. It solved the problem that a PM somewhere needed a promotion and this got them further along that track, lol. Im convinced this is the reason 95% of dumbass features are released today (yes, relevant flair).
