I went to a bootcamp prior to that I had been self studied for a couple years. The bootcamp ended in 2022 but I have continued to self study. I landed a role in tech but it is not a software engineering role. I took it because I thought industry experience would help me stand out and move into engineering so far it hasn't. I have taken lots of courses on codecademy recently picked up a CompTIA certification to see if that helps. I have explored Data Analytics due to the majority of my experience being in Python. While I think that might be a good alternative, I haven't had any more luck landing any interviews for those roles and according to research I have done the outlook for that field isn't as positive as development. Since largely no one seems to have any interest in bootcamp grads anymore I have began looking into attending WGU to compensate but I don't know if I can handle the extra financial stress and the bootcamp loan is already crushing me and I am the sole earning of a family of 4. My current company offers some Udemy courses which I have started a big data course and completed a Linux course in hope that have more OS than Windows would help me, it hasn't either. I have been doing volunteer work in my free time but I fear that may have hurt more than helped as I have not had anytime to focus on keeping my GitHub full. However I previously did have a very green GitHub but that didn't seem to make a difference either. I have done several resume reworks with several career services members of my bootcamp. They all contradicted each other one of the leads even rewrote it and then the next time meeting forgetting that it was his work said it sucked. This made me decide to take another loan and get a professional rewrite and LinkedIn update but this has also not helped me gain any sort of traction, it was just another poor choice that led to more debt. When I am applying I previously used cover letters but have sinced stopped due to advice I have seen on various influencer posts on LinkedIn. Doesn't seem to have made a difference either way. I have also been putting my resume and role into chatgpt then personalizing the result in order to have it unique for each role. This again has made no difference. I have had others from LinkedIn review my stuff and say it looks good but clearly they lying. So if you have any advice on something I haven't tried please let me know. There are more things I have tried but I'll end up telling you my life story before long lol. I am honestly thinking opportunity might just be dead for bootcamp grads..., what are your thoughts. Thanks for any advice you may be able to provide.
