Soon to be new grad next year with an offer lined up. I would love to get a car as I like to go on road trips often and dislike public transport. I’m thinking of a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Would they be too expensive to afford? I have no debts, loans or obligations. New grad tc: 197k
Yes that should be very comfortable for your pocket
You can afford a 60-70k car. Even more if you don’t have rent or mortgage
No that’s too excessive hahah.
I really don’t care what you think. You asked if you can afford, and I told you the price range 🤷♂️
Get a hybrid, you’ll save on the total cost of ownership.
Could you elaborate on this?
Why? You can save a lot of it’s an EV, but there is nothing special about hybrids.
Amazon paying 197k for new grad wtf
Not amazon
Accord or Camry are the standard cars that everyone suggests(Boring). Check out some other cars in the same range as well. Something like a kia K5, Mazda mx5
Get s shiny car with seats that rollback flat and roof that opens all the way 🥳 trust me you will never miss the money
Lol I feel like all the meta commenters on here just came to troll
dude out the car to good use
What’s your base? Put down 20%, finance for 3 years. Your payment shouldn’t be more than 8% of your monthly income. Do some reverse calculation to see what you can afford.
Buy a cheaper but reliable car first so you feel the thrill of upgrading in the future
I'd say that 50-60k is the sweet spot if you want something fun but don't be afraid to go to say 70k. If you just need nice and reliable and functional there's tons of choices under 40k and you can afford them

Brand new camry or accord is very doable with your TC. I usually go with car that cost less than 1/3 your TC and house 4 times to your TC. Of course lower the better financially
1/3 is too high. You’ll lose 1/3 of your TC to taxes, and spend half the take home on a car?
