What companies and stocks are likely to do well in a recession?

Some possible really wrong ideas: Amazon? People still need to buy stuff? eBay - people want to buy cheap and used stuff? Google/YouTube/Facebook - more unemployed people with lots of free time (I think Netflix will do poorly because it’s paid)

People won’t be able to afford taking their families to expensive restaurants yet will want to celebrate and share a meal with their loved ones. It outperformed DJ during the last recession.

Tobacco, alcohol, coffee - people dont drop their addictions just because of depression.

Google lydny Feb 6, 2018

dr00gs bro. vicodin will moon. all the pussyhatters depending on handouts will triple their doses of antidepressants when they realize there's no money to pay for their shit. alcohol is also popular during downturns but it's too commoditized to really make money from. seriously tho, if you think a recession is coming then don't put money in the stock market, put it in something with intrinsic value or go short and profit directly off the bear market.

There was a major recession not so long ago, you don’t need opinions when you can find facts.
