Asians - what are your thoughts on asian female white male ?
Could be petty reasons, could be serious. I'll go first: GE. Landed a software engineering internship with them, but in signing all the paperwork we found they had never asked for my transcript and they needed it to make sure my GPA met their requirement. Well, it didn't. Not by a lot either, but by something like .15 or .2... So I sent my transcript to them thinking they might be lenient, aaaaannnd I was completely ghosted. Wrote a couple follow up emails and still haven't heard a single word. Really solidified my hate for GPA requirements, and put GE on my personal blacklist. Base: 115k TC: 115k 🙁
Square - heard from multiple friends that the culture is toxic
Hey Dropbox can you please explain a bit?
Oh? Heard Square’s culture is one of the best? It is toxic now? Dang
Companies where people use blacklist instead of denylist.😤
Yo, this is very challenging. I deal with this personally in my company culture. Same with master/slave db relationships
You must hate the TV show “The Blacklist”
Amazon! Do I need to state the reasons?
Apple. General snobby behavior. The blacklist also extends to their products as well.
Does msft blacklist people after reneging the offer
Amajon.
Amazon did not get big by a fluke. A genius left DE Shaw and built an empire. You don’t leave DE Shaw (youngest partner in its history, at the time) and build an empire by fluke.
Meta had perfect timing
What's wrong with Affirm?
Amazon, heard Stripe is the next Amazon, Meta
Amazon, Meta, Stripe, Square, Uber ... Is this new the normal?
Culture?
Series A, B, C, D, …, Z startups. Not worth the risk and forced kool-aid.
How’s millennium? Been thinking about joining a finance firm. TC any good?
It’s good. Good pay, teammates, and WLB, in my experience. The majority of people are friendly and everyone is smart. The company flies under the radar when it comes to FAANGlings, which I find kind of interesting. Everyone always talks about Citadel, Two Sigma, etc, but I think it’s just because of marketing. The people in the quant space, who know what’s up, respect the company. Generally speaking, people only leave when they are forced out or they get a 30% bump to go to another hedge fund, which is simply standard practice in the industry. People from the same companies switch to Millennium for the same reason.
