I am booking a $6000 trip for the summer but I don’t know what credit card to use for it since I am still somewhat new to the game. I can either use my Chase Freedom Unlimited and get 3x points (I am in my welcome bonus still) or I can use my Chase Sapphire Preferred and get only 2x points with several benefits like travel insurance. What is the better deal? Which card would you use? It is about 6000 point award difference.
Bruh just churn a new card‘s sign up bonus.
Use the chase card on Chase travel portal and get 5x.
Hotel isn’t available on travel portal sadly.
Noob.. get a new card .. you can easily make $500 for that much spend.
I’d do CSP for the insurance. Assuming you can hit the min spend on the sign up bonus through other spending.
I’ve already got the minimum spend on the CSP and been awarded the points. This is more based on the raw benefits.
Get the Capital One Venture X. The card pays for itself plus a ton of other travel benefits. With the upcoming spend, you’ll also easily hit the intro bonus requirement. Let me know and I can DM you a referral
How many points is your referral?
75,000. I think it’s standard irrespective of referrals.
Maybe get a new card with new bonus as you’ll meet the spend minimum in a short period of time
+1 that VentureX. Don’t like playing games to get 2x rewards
Venture X is where it's at.
If I get the Venture X, what would be the long term plan with the card once the open date anniversary hits? I’ve invested pretty heavily into working toward the Chase trifecta.
Just DM’d you. I personally feel the concept of trifecta is more of a marketing gimmick by companies and credit card bloggers who are incentivized to promote certain cards. You should just go with a card that meets YOUR lifestyle and optimize for it. It can be food, travel or just plain cashback. In my case it is travel. And the best time for applying is when you have a known big spend coming up since you can easily hit that intro bonus which in most cases gives you multiples in value of your annual fees. Fwiw, both me and wife have the Amex platinum ($695 AF), plus I have the Venture X ($395 AF)and she has Hilton Aspire ($550 AF) and we come out way ahead since we both love traveling. Out of these, the Venture X is a no brainer travel card and others depend on your lifestyle.
