I see ppl still interviewing for Snap and stuff and get genuinely confused. Is the company doing well? Do people still use the Snapchat app? I’ve opened it only a handful of times in the last several years and almost drowned in a deluge of ads and shit tier content. Do they have some other revenue stream I don’t know about, or are users still actually using the app and consuming?
Yes
for pics i wouldnt put on my story
Snap score of around 600, so I don’t use it either. Growing user base and we’re improving on every tab, so things seem fine. We still have problems adjusting our business model to accommodate the apple change, but I’m hopeful for a more durable business in the long run.
Zoomers use it with their friends as a messaging app, but pretty sure there’s no ad revenue from that. I don’t know anyone who uses it for anything else tbh so I’m also pretty confused.
It's used by teenagers.
“Who uses Roblox, graphics suck, why would anybody uses this, you grow out of it”, and all is true, but it’s also true half the kids play and use money in the games. “After using a galaxy I don’t even know why would anybody use an iPhone, the customization, screen, battery, feature years ahead, …” which is all true. But it’s also true that 80% of people under 30 own an iPhone. I can have a bias, a prejudice, a certain taste in things, a way of using apps, but definitely things that are profitable, and are doing something right, whatever that is, keep going.
there's beauty in minimalism. i dont play roblox but the typical AAA game wont hold my attention for longer than a month whereas i cant help but go back to start a new world in minecraft at least once a year. same with the phones, i used to be on team android until finally caving and trying an iphone and basking in it's refreshing simplicity.
To snapshot TC.
Snap sucks. The UI sucks
It’s all ads and lots of kids still use it but honestly it has no use in anything else. Just a waste of time to be on the app if you have work to do
How are other apps like instagram or TikTok not a waste of time too? To be clear, I’m not throwing other apps under the bus, but highlighting that the point of these apps is not about making good use of your time.
They are all to some extent but due to the sheer popularity of them on a global scale, hard to deny the impact of theirs on the society so quite hard to say they have no use whereas Snap is mostly for NA and english-speaking countries so doesn’t have that scale. (Also Snap only appeals to a really specific age group)
