Until I landed here in the US in June 2022, I was able to trade US stocks through one of Korean investing companies, Samsung Securities. But becoming a permanent resident prohibits doing it except Korean stocks. I liked that Samsung Securities had minimum trading fee, actual fee is zero but a few others which would be .006% or something. Used to pay .03% for trading American stocks but now I only do Korean ones. I know there's Robinhood, Ameritrade used to be TD's but when I asked a teller at the bank, they are not together anymore. If I remember right, Robinhood literally took off Gamestock so people wouldn't be able to trade when there was short squeeze, right? My wife's best friend uses Robinhood but because of that reason, I don't think I would go with them at all... Anyway, I planned to start doing it when my US saving hits 100k, could you guys give me a recommendation? Of course minimum fee would be fantastic but also I would like to transfer money easily from my bank account as well, or withdraw cash (I barely do it but if I ever need) conveniently. And clearly reading posts here, you guys are the best and experts. Thanks in advance. TC: 125k +
Literally anything than robinhood is fine.
Agreed, I will look up what else...! Thank you!
You can't go wrong with Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab
Thank you, really appreciate that!! I told my wife to read and compare since I suck at reading in any language... But yes thank you!
Moomoo
Oh wow, thank you so much. I thought you were joking lol someone actually commented a bad joke but then deleted but I saw it. But yes I just googled it and it seems fancy! Thank you again!
No problem
Fidelity has free stock trades. And also free wire transfers. Plus when I send money to my checking account via ACH it usually arrives the same day. Also, unlimited ATM fee reimbursement if you open their CMA account (which is just like a brokerage account but with lower interest on cash balance and I don't think you can enable margin).
This is interesting. My major account in Samsung Securities in Korea is CMA, I used to get paid through my CMA while working in Korea, and I move my money whenever I trade stocks still. Extra homework for my wife to dig into lol thank you so much!

Cleared Amazon onsite, but lowballed.
Fidelity for my scheduled index investments (and RSUs and retirement), and Robinhood for the highly-speculative shits-and-giggles. As much as Robinhood enraged us all, I still enjoy the UI/ UX the most.
I thought you can only buy Fidelity's own index.. really should look into more. Thank you!
