Given that so much of blind is about TC and top tier, I wanted to see what the opposite looks like. What constitutes your failure resume https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/02/03/smarter-living/failure-resume.amp.html Me: Struggled to get a job after grad school. Eventually got into a crappy startup. Spent two torturous years there before getting into FAANG.
♥️
Started a job at big firm - failed miserably - got fired Did masters - got job after so much struggle - but got fired on my first day Then got into another one - worked there for 2 years - ppl there took advantage of me. So, Recently moved to amazon Every adversity pushed to an other adversity. I’m like wtf, Is this all even worth it !
long midface giant skull recessed chin underbite flared ribs aging skin (didnt use sunscreen until 20s)
- got kicked out of my parents' house and told to join the army or not speak to them again - enlisted in the army, went to the 82nd airborne over at Bragg, went to a party with a few other soldiers and a blue falcon snitched on me for smoking weed. got kicked out of the army - had no money after the army, parents were even more disappointed and cut contact with me, so was pretty much homeless again living with friends - scraped by working minimum wage jobs and extra shifts, lots of overtime. saved my money to build a good buffer to go to college - spent three years in college, taking summer classes and 18 credit hour semesters while trying to get my computer engineering degree as fast as possible - worked a ton of min wage jobs while in school, hard to balance both. Worked these jobs just to afford to eat food and pay rent let alone tuition - got my first internship my junior year, then got a return offer. Worked at that company for two years - got an Amazon offer and relocated to seattle shortly after. And here I am
Perseverance! Nicely done.
This is really cool, nice work! Have you spoken to your parents since?
Rejections from all the top-tier colleges I applied to (because I didn’t know what I wanted and what they wanted to see from candidates), a bad internship after sophomore year (because I didn’t know how the internship game worked yet), rejections from most places I applied after junior and senior years because I didn’t put effort into learning how to interview well... all these things seemed big at the time but not so much anymore
