What exactly makes people get into PIP?
I am not the most hardworking engineer, but I consider myself a decent programmer. I think I’m very driven because I’m from a third world country and failure is not an option. But even with just basic stuff I have never gotten any sort of PIP in my experience. I just show up at work & get stuff done. What exactly do people do to end up in PIP?

Incompetence. People who don't know how to use computers. People who don't work well with others. People who create work for themselves or focus on inconsequential work.
How did they even get in the company in the first place if they don't know how to use computers. Lol
