They seem to have less demand than Web Front End. Are they being displaced by React Native and Flutter?
Front end work can be outsourced nowadays
It has increased and good ones are hard to find.
It’s very difficult to find good mobile devs. Every time an experienced one starts looking for a new job, 50 recruiters pounce on them right away
React Native is a joke any serious mobile dev should stay far away from it. Good mobile guys are hard to find, unlike frontend guys.
The demand has changed in the last few years. The industry exploded a few years back. However, now the App Store is so saturated with apps that it’s insanely rare to be successful as an app company. As such, there are just less mobile roles available. There are still demand for mobile devs, but they are also heavily skewed towards more experienced people. You also have an infinite supply of college grads who heard “software engineering is the greatest, you should be an app developer” back in 2013. This makes the demand supply ratio seem off. You also have to factor in the problem that... having more mobile devs may or may not scale with your service. Most unicorns can have many backend engineers cuz systems can be built and talk to each other fairly well. But you can only have one app (for that product). Throwing 500 mobile engineers at it is going to be more chaotic than hiring only a few really good ones.

Why do you think that?
Because of the occasional sight of “hiring frond end developers” on Blind
