I have a few people offering referrals and I’m curious about using ChatGPT on the test but nervous. I interviewed a year ago and 100% did use ChatGPT in their test, got the questions right and didn’t get selected for an interview so I think they flagged my profile somehow lol It’s weird bc I get so many referrals and recruiters for Amazon but I can never pass their stupid entrance exams, and the exams are different all the time. Some roles I get reached out to for some teams don’t use the tests for various reasons, others use the tests for roles that are unrelated to what the test is testing for. Ie, interviewing for a mobile developer role, but testing in Java or Python. Also some recruiters will show the most flamboyant salary ranges, but the interview process is a dumpster fire. Uhhhg I’m sorry this has turned into a rant about Amazon, but that company drives me insane. It’s a good business and has solid cash flow, so I’m attracted to that, I also know a handful of people who work there or have worked there and that’s such a mixed bag too. One of my friends who studied UX interned there and she got assigned to the Amazon microwave with Alexa built in it, but then I have another friend who was a psychology major and he ended up working in a fulfillment center — and his experience is absolutely never ever work at Amazon. I know another intern who went to the same recruiting event I did and it was immediately clear that the recruiters were picking her for the role over me. I threw up the morning before this damn on campus recruiting session, and they took people from the career fair they liked to play bumper cars off campus. I tried to get off the bumper cars after 2 games once and the Amazon hiring manager literally yelled at me and said what do you think you’re doing getting out of that bumper car
Well that post devolved quickly. But honestly chatgpt doesn't always give the most optimal coding solution, and probably a year ago wasn't either/was worse. Are you able to tell if it's giving you a good, optimal answer? Are you able to adjust its answer and give the right prompts to get the right updates?
The question I used it for was asking for an algorithm that organizes objects by weight so that the max amount of packages are grouped together in boxes that weigh no more than 21 pounds. The only languages available were Java, Python, c#, and some others but I was interviewing for a mobile developer role and there wasn’t anything related to the skillset you need to publish mobile apps. It felt stupid so at that point I figured if Amazon wants to use irrelevant tests here I’m not going to waste any more time than the hiring managers are here and use tools at my disposal to get through these frivolous games
I'll do whatever employers want me to do for TC 😂 Though if you're not willing to play their silly games, i don't think its reasonable to be upset you're not clearing the interviews. Tc 700
Their silly games drive me insane bc that’s what they are games, and sure games are fine if I’m being compensated for my time I’m playing them, but now that I’ve played so many tech companies interview games my patience is so thin. Im kinda at the point in my career where I have so many recruiters reaching out to me, but 90% of them don’t lead to interviews, and then the ones that do I am picky with which tests I take bc there’s always another one knocking on my door asking me to take their stupid test. So it turns into a game on my end of thinking about the best ways to spend my time when looking for a job and not just sending my resume to every recruiter/referral that comes-a-knocking. Or taking every interview test offered, bc some of them are just giant black holes of wasted time it feels.

Most people experience is never ever work for Amazon
I know 4 people who have worked at Amazon corporate and none who have worked a warehouse role on the floor and 3/4 seemed to enjoy their time. However I also see articles about their employees peeing in cups bc the algorithms don’t account for bathroom breaks and you’ll get fired if you’re not efficient enough
