Love watching these peanut companies try to build csec orgs with a bunch of idiots for cheap. Easy money for an attacker.
Almost every data leak is the result of a calculated risk. Systems exist to make data leaks near impossible but they require layers and layers of infrastructure, permission systems, and etc. and each require a set of engineers to maintain and a set of SRE’s to monitor + resolve outages. Also a set of top dollar engineering directors to oversee everything. They could have prevented this, if they wanted. But they chose to run a slightly riskier stack in exchange for profits. It is what it is. If you were an investor with $100Millions in the company looking at the same math they did, you would have come to the same conclusion.
Totally valid , not sure how did you observe inside facts of Tmobile , I work there , trust me most of all directors /VP are from 15yrs old call center representative, they took technology roles. My director don’t know single technical stuff, I showed her git commit history she praised me for creating that tracking 😝😂. This level of directors are living in Tmobile . Now every director and VP covering their position by uttering security and AI word.

Does minimum YOE actually matter on job posts
They underinvested in their tech stack for years and now it’s a mess. I imagine you’ll see more bizarre security lapses like this going forward
