@google Is it equally difficult as SWE ? Some positive reddit posts. Reading these posts I feel I would quite enjoy the role. Test frameworks @google scale sounds incredibly awesome ! https://amp.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/5j8r09/question_regarding_seti_vs_swe_positions/ https://amp.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/3nrtf1/software_engineer_tools_and_infrastructure_role/
Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence? :O sounds pretty cool
Interviewed and received a high L4 SETI offer. The interview was a joke in comparison to the standard SWE interviews I’ve had with them.
When was this ? What kind of questions were asked ? Can you kindly describe in more detail your interview experience ?
About 1.5 months ago. Easy stuff like: two strings exactly alike except the second one has exactly one additional character, find that character. Simple tree traversal questions... it was so unremarkable that it was very forgettable.
I would like to hear from a Googler. A googler's answer (2017) on Quora disputes answers I have seen so far: https://www.quora.com/Is-it-easier-to-get-a-SETI-position-at-Google-compared-to-a-general-SWE-position
Do they pay the same salary for SETI vs SWE
According to my research Yes https://testing.googleblog.com/2011/04/set-career-path.html?m=1
Nice
No. Half of the interview is about testing. How can they be the same difficulty?
According to Glassdoor the interview is as difficult as and virtually identical to SWE. Also you can easily transfer back and forth between SWE and SETI at Google. bladerunn are you guessing or have you actually endured a SETI Google interview ?
I did a bit of research and i also did seti interview a while back and i also just got an offer for SWE recently. I dont think the difficulty is the same. Also easily transferable is probably not true, you might have to reinterview for swe.
