What is a decent salary in Texas for a Software Engineer?

I’m not looking for these crazy high salaries, what is a decent salary in Texas for us sheeple who just want to kick back and be normie software developers?

Depends where in Texas. Plano is pretty competitive. I was making around 200k as PM lead, you’re prob looking around 150-250 in that area. San Antonio might be a bit cheaper. Depends on seniority I guess. Watch out for the insane property taxes depending on the areas though. You’ll still be paying around 1000usd/mo for a 400-500k house after paid off.

In Austin, most people I know are 100-140ish, with a decent amount of people above and below. If you're working at a big company it can be much higher. Texas is a big state, you will probably want to clarify where you mean.

That sounds right. And with climbing inner city rents you don't really come out much far ahead of bay area.

I was actually considering switching to Capital One. Would be interested to hear about your experience there. I believe my friend with the same background as me (same previous company) , 3.5 yoe, makes 115 or 120 at Capital One and says it's fairly low stress.
