Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
I may have an opportunity to work at Disney Tech in Seattle. I have read reviews here but have questions about the Seattle experience in particular: 1. How do people feel about RTO? Any flexibility on the 4 days in office policy? 2. Any help with commuting like ORCA card or subsidized parking? 3. What is the meal situation there? Find whatever you can out in the street? Are the drinks and snacks decent? 4. How is the office environment? Open seating? Cube farm? Dedicated desks I presume? 5. Any nice views in the office with sunlight? 6. How are people towards each other in general? Anything else good to know?
Coming from Meta, you will be disappointed.
Expecting that. Seeking info to manage the expectations.
I'm not in Seattle but RTO enforcement has been lax. My org does not enforce it at all and others maybe 2x or 3x per week.
Thanks, I will be pushing back on it. I think 4 days is a little too much when even Amazon is at 3. I value being in the office but if you have a tough commute and most people you work with are at other locations, what's the point?
Exactly. If I had a teammate who said let's get in a conference room and whiteboard something it would be no problem to go to the office. But to go in every day just to join Zoom meetings and sit at our desks with headphones and laptops makes no sense.
I'm fully remote / WFH so have only been a couple of times but it's *several* (I want to say 6?) floors high up in a downtown Seattle building - feels extremely corporate but not bad. Last time I was there it felt half deserted but apparently it varies by floor. If I had to work there I honestly don't think I'd hate it, minus maybe the commute
Have you visited since RTO was established? Do you know if it is really enforced? I guess some are approved remote anyway so not everyone is expected to be there.
I have not, but I think you're right. In my case my team is all in Burbank so not-remote was never on the table to begin with
4 days is non negotiable but not enforced, if that makes sense. Streaming is a dumpster fire
It depends on which org you work for. I know the Parks and Resorts teams have been trying to get out of Seattle forever. I think streaming has a better presence. Everyone I met who worked there seemed to like it, but they definitely were missing out on stuff happening in Orlando/Glendale. (I worked for Parks and Resorts out of Orlando)
So lots of different orgs there? How many floors? Are they high on the tower?
Idk, I’ve never been to the Seattle office. To Google’s point below, I hope you’re ready for an entirely different way to run an engineering department lol
