It seems very childish to me to quit one of the best paying/prestigious jobs out there for an YouTube channel. If some of you were colleagues with one of these guys what was it like to find out they quit for an YouTube channel? Were these guys top performers in the first place?
Don't be a baby op.
It maybe because they aren't actually very good at their jobs, only good at passing interview.

I completely agree with you
Soon more will figure it out and get into this- that will coincide in reduction of 'why Leetcode?' posts.
YouTube can pay very well, and it can be done as a side gig. Seems like a pretty childish mentality you've got there.
Tech jobs: well paying, yes; prestigious, no. If the YouTuber has figured out a way to monetize his social media to the extent he has the financial security to leave his job, good for him.
It's prestigious in social media/influencer circles right? Just like how acting in films is prestigious in Hollywood? Like YouTube get togethers and so on. Prestige is determined by whose opinion do you give importance too.
You misinterpreted my comment, forsure! Prestigous, no is in regards to OPs comment around his/her tech job. The YouTuber has moved to the self employed world, always more prestigious.
Not everyone cares about the prestige you speak of,and in many cases prestige is subjective. Some of them are pretty influenceial ,they've changed people's lives and they are celebrities within their circles. You on the other hand is a nobody collecting cheque, nobody knows you until you flex your "prestige". And you some of them earn way above what you can even think of, with less work and some of them automated. My wife is a youtuber and still makes money from videos 5years ago. You'd have to meet the next deadline if you want to continue earning.
I used to think the same, but realised it's way more lucrative (if you are successful - fan base)
Why would you grind a tech job out when you can work in building your own brand? Makes zero sense to stay in tech if they are making good dough from youtube.

I am starting to think Chinese interviewers currently fail non-Chinese candidates on purpose.
If you go viral on YouTube you make more money doing far less
