What is some *non-generic* career advice for the average dev?

We've all heard the: - network - show your face to the higher ups - grow your impact ๐Ÿคฎ - learn new languages and frameworks - just be 'nice' But what's some non trite career advice ...? Sick of this gayle/lamefluencer type advice

Never ask for or work hard for a promotion. Work at ur pace, deliver da results. If you feel underappreciated/they start f*ing with you, LC and GTFO.

Do minimum work in the company, do maximum outside. Work with engineering & open source communities, and thought leadership in your space/domain, own the full knowledge and context that most ignore or fail to be updated on.

Switch jobs often. Better for promos, comp and the best, you don't have to play corporate games such as the ones you mentioned.
