I did my virtual onsite with Databricks for software engineer role, including standardized coding questions and system designs. I feel I didn’t bomb any round and the overall experience was great, although the interview questions were indeed hard. While I’m stilling waiting for yes or no answer, I wonder how high the bar now is at Databricks? 5 YOE, 240k TC
Is Databricks a good company?
Keep hearing good words from them but not sure the product end
It's great!
Like all the startups...the bar is random and not standardized.
This is true and still waiting for the decision
Did they ask LC hard? How was system design?
Amazon to Databricks ? Curious - why ?
Interviewed at databricks once. If you dont give the solution they want, you are not passing the bar. And just a remainder, dont do it if they ask for a take home coding assignment. Even you do it perfectly, they are still good at finding faults with you :)
I heard there is a home assignment, but not sure that will the assignment be assigned if the feedback is positive? Or similar to another additional round to clear the mixed signal? If being assigned, how can I Not do this but still get offer?
Only if you did exceptionally well at the onsite. If they think there is a bit tiny thing not clear at your onsite, maybe they will ask you to do the assignment. I did the assignment and still they are nitpicking it.
Anyone knows how’s the equity vested over time?
This company will be irrelevant soon. No way to justify their valuation in the presence of cloud providers. See what has happened to cloudera, mapr, etc. Samething will happen to confluent.
I think you are wrong, but it's okay.
@LinkedIn looks like you were wrong. Databricks are on track to clock ~$1 bill ARR in 2022
The bar is a bit random. One Googler L7 I know failed to meet their Sr PM bar
Interview itself is a random event, and being at FAANG doesn’t guarantee being selected somewhere else
