I got headhunted on LinkedIn for a position at SAS. I’m going through with the interviews just for fun but was curious to the current TC for someone with 5 yoe. Current TC: 126k Location: Houston I would have to move to Austin obviously which I’m not 100% sold on yet. And I am also in the process of transitioning into SWE and I have a good WLB and can WFH and that is helping rn. Would it be worth going through with SAS? I don’t wanna waste to much of my time with them if I don’t have too. How is the WLB? And is there WFH? Thanks
Last time I interviewed with them, they were collecting pay information before making an offer, I didn't know any better that I shouldn't give them a number but it didn't sit well with me several years ago and I ultimately declined. The pay wasn't too great then.
Yeah they tried the same with me
Were you able to get out of providing the info? They basically refused to move forward without the information
Unfortunately it's not illegal in Texas to ask about previous salary and some sources on the interwebs seem to indicate previous employer can disclose this information to new employer 🤦
They can ask lol it’s not like I have to give it to them
This was several years ago and the HR lady basically told me I had to give her a paystub or she couldn't take the next step - it was probably all BS and I am glad I didn't go
What role is this for?
GCS Staff Engineer
For staff engineer you should expect a base salary around160- 170k, plus yearly bonus, plus relocation, plus sign on bonus and maybe some retention bonus
I accepted offer to SSI this year with 5 YOE 145k Base, 25k sign bonus/yr for 3 years, 20% bonus target (TC 200k)
That’s pretty good, what position?
