I heard among big tech, Amazon is the worst followed by spacex and Tesla. On the other hand linkedin, Google, and Microsoft are pretty chill. I heard Apple sucks for hardware engineers but what is it like for SWEs?#culture #officelife #workplace #faang #amazon #microsoft #apple #wlb #google
You shouldn’t be talking about WLB as a new grad. Focus on growth.
Where can I join to focus on growth?
Amazon or FB...
Apple is really dependent on the team. Some super chill others stressful
It really depends on your team. But I will say that from what I've seen, Apple likes to run pretty lean, meaning that the number of engineers they put on a project seems fewer than what I've seen at other software companies. I think one of our orgs senior execs once said something along the lines of we do our best work when we take a project that should require ten people and make five people do it. Of course the nature of your project and your managers leadership style will still make the biggest impact on WLB.
In crude terms does it mean crush the WLB of engineers and call it a success?
MS is not chill. Depends on team.
Didn’t know. I was told they offer lower pay compared to FB, Google, etc but have great wlb
You’re a new grad. Pay diff at new grad level is not significant. Return interns get up to 190k TC at MSFT, comparable to F/G. (Plus no state tax in WA). Also, the chill-level depends on team. In Azure it can be hard to find wlb
