For us, it’s Github (Enterprise) contributions. That counts as commits, merge commits, comments on PRs, and approval/rejections of PRs. Not *everything* is based off that number, but it gets reported in annual reviews.
I think we don't have metric as such. But it depends on individual contributions, your contributions to success of others, other's contributions to your success, opinion by senior engineers. For growth it depends on your impact, budget and career stage(how many in your org are having same designation as yours).
