I've seen a Goldman MD moved to Google as L7
MD?
The question is how realistic is to get md job from outside. You must be managing a bunch of people
If you want to get hired as an MD, medical school is a must
What division would you want to work in? Then we can help you with what you need to show to get hired. Are you an engineer?
Good luck getting answers from a bunch of tech nerds who donβt know squat about banking industry
As someone mentioned, they saw a GS MD move to Google as an L7. I would say reverse would be true too. A Google L7 should be able to get to GS as an MD, though I wonder whether GS will be always able to match and provide a big hike
Me too. The chance of me getting md at gs would be near zero, and I have many yoe in finance
Uh, I've seen quite a lot here. A couple big shot guys from Amazon for example.
MD, except for really rare cases, is a managerial role. It would be unlikely to go from IC. An L7 manager at FAANG has smaller scope than an MD and some Directors at FAANG have higher scope, so should be somewhere on the senior L7/junior L8. You wouldn't necessarily need to have finance experience if the MD area would be very technical (like infra) but it would be very unlikely.
Donβt have an answer but why do you want to go from FB/G to Goldman?
Just exploring options.
