What makes you stay at a company 5+ years?

I've been with my company for 8+ years and thinking about leaving. They took away pension plan about 5 years ago, but have 4% matching 401k, decent health benefits, and I pay $180 for coinsurance plan, they have between 1-4% raise per year depending on how the company perform. Work life balance is ok, but I feel I'm underpaid. I'm new so not sure how you all calculate TC? Which I assume mean total compensation. So what keeps you at a company for the long haul?

Stayed at my last company for 5 yrs even though I was underpaid. I loved the team, enjoyed working on the products, learned a lot about software and humans and management and tradeoffs and only left to pursue different work in an industry I wanted to be in. My ideal now is to make more money and replicate the experience of a team I enjoy working with

TC is easy to calculate. How much money do you make in a year, total? A lot of tech companies pay in salary + equity + bonus, so a basic TC formula for this: TC = base salary + equity/year + bonus Example Facebook offer of $200k salary, $400k RSUs over 4 years, and a 15% salary bonus: TC = $200k base salary + $100k RSU + $30k bonus TC = $330k

I value learning, money, career growth, team and think most do. If one is down, then others should rise to keep me there.

Not sure what your base salary is, but mine wasn’t nearly enough to compensate me for the harassment and hostile work environment I tolerated for the last three years at my last job. Poor pay and horrible leadership added to the mix. I stayed eight years growing my skill set and waiting for THE BEST opportunities to apply for. When I accepted my offer, I knew I’d found a new professional home. When it’s time to go, you’ll know.

I got too old to want to deal with job hopping. I put up with below market rates to keep the favorable environment.

Can't believe no one called OP out for not posting his/her TC 🙄 Is this not Blind?

Ooh he was clever. He claimed he didn’t know how to calculate it so we all deferred.
