E4 SWE in infra at meta NYC, 5 months on the job. I believe I can get decent ratings as a 4 (I believe but I'm not sure), but getting promoted to 5 in the 33 month timeline seems too stressful to me, plus I think I'll want to leave by then anyway. What are some companies in NYC that I can aim for with relatively lesser stress? Happy with same pay or even a reasonable decrease. Some I'm aware of are two sigma and bloomberg, maybe google? TC: 370k, YOE: 3.5
What’s your projected rating for this half?
Tbh I have no idea, hoping for meets all. I've delivered all my projects, there were some delays but I was still on boarding and some of the delays were out of my control. There is little transparency into the rating process here, and I think that fear keeps everyone working. I'm not a naturally hard working person but I'm working 45-50 hours (which is the most I've ever worked since high school)
At this point your manager should’ve let you know if you’re on track or not. If you’re not sure then you and your manager have some communicating to do.
Obviously Google is the answer here if you're really looking to chill. Two Sigma is another option if you have any interest in "Wall St" action; but just try to get to G.
