I’m looking to career pivot into a better WLB/Salary direction. Background: I’m 29. Undergrad in nursing, worked in the ER for 3 years, moved to management with Kaiser for 2.5 years. Greater Seattle area TC: 120k I quit my job at Kaiser in March 2020, took a travel nursing contract, built a camper van, traveled the country with my wife (teacher), and started my MBA. Around the same time, I started working (very part-time) with a bootstrapping telehealth startup that is basically physician recruiting with a little twist. I’m the only employee (I’m doing sales and implementation although we haven’t actually implemented anything yet) ans closed our first contract (after 9 months) that was $1.5M over 12 months. I have really liked these sales calls since we had a marketing company setting them up for me. On the side, I run e-commerce for a campervan company (5 hrs/week). I’m interested in health tech, strategic growth and development, finance, and maybe sales. It seems the tech industry is a better for my goals one than clinical healthcare. Ideas: 1. Sales - health tech, or tech. It seems this would be hard to break into, but I might have some connections to help. I’ve been told by others in sales that I would do great at it and I’ve always enjoyed selling, but I don’t know how I would withstand the daily grind of calling/etc. 2. Operations manager / product manager - It seems like Product Manager would have higher TC. No connections in this field, not really sure what the day to day would really look like. 3. Project Management - I’ve thought about getting a PMP and trying this route. It feels like this TC would cap out pretty quick but I could be wrong. I have a friend who works for Liberty Mutual as a back end dev and he said they use scrum masters for this which is a pretty comfortable gig. I will my done with my MBA by the end nnnof summer—thanks for your advice/input!
Pmp is pointless imo
TC at JnJ and Abbott for project managers are pretty high. You usually start out at a grade 16 at Abbott or respectively grade 26 at JnJ which is roughly 120-140TC. At Abbott, you can go up to a principal PM which has a grade of 20 which is atleast 200k+ TC
